I met the Skinner-Foster family a few years ago through a mutual friend. As we've stayed in touch through social media, I've followed their remarkable journey - one step in front of the other, led by the heart, changing the world. 

In 2020 Jackie and her husband Adam welcomed a sweet little boy, Harvey, into the world. And with him came big plans! Diagnosed with a rare genetic disease called DLG4, their family has worked with determined hearts to develop treatment. One thing that surprised me as I've learned more about their story is most, if not all, of their research is self-funded, as is the case with other "rare" diseases. I am constantly in awe of their story, their ruthless pursuit, bravery, and utter determination paving new paths in research and demonstrating the biggest love anyone could. It's a humbling reminder of the preciousness of life, answering the call of the heart, and taking inspired action no matter how difficult. May we all be as brave to pursue our path so whole-heartedly.
